Franklin County is home to Historic Washington Missouri and Historic New Haven, both founded by German immigrants who came to the area in the 1800s. Wineries, Historic Districts and buildings make both cities an enjoyable day trip. One unique historic place is the Missouri Meerschaum Company established in 1869 and is the oldest corn cob pipe manufacturer still in operation in the United States. The Missouri Meerschaum Museum can be toured for free. See the list below for other historic places in Franklin County.
