The Bevo Mill was built by August Busch Sr. in 1917. It is located halfway between his home, which is located at what is now Grant's Farm, and the Anheuser-Busch Brewery and was used as Busch's personal dining room and a restaurant to entertain his guests. Prohibition closed down the restaurant because it was a retail beer outlet. It was opened later and used only for special private parties until 2006, then it opened as a German-inspired restaurant. Problems again closed down this South City icon. But in the fall of 2009, after major renovations, the Historic Bevo Mill opened again! Today it is a venue for special events such as wedding receptions and corporate parties.
