The Nims Mansion was built in 1929 by Eugene Nims who was a founder of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. It was the weekend retreat for the Nims family and they cultivated extensive gardens on the grounds. Built of all stone, the large mansion was designed by a prominent St. Louis architectural firm at the time, Maritz and Young. The property was developed into a park in the early 1970's and purchased by St. Louis County in 1986. The Nims Mansion is not available to tour but the surrounding Bee Tree Mansion Garden and Bee Tree Overlook are a favorite place for weddings! See website for more information.
