When it comes to entertainment, St. Louis has many options! And not just in the City of St. Louis. The surrounding Metro area also provides a wide variety of options to choose from, as well.
Big name performers, whether it be hip-hop or opera, Broadway shows, ballets, comedians, local performing arts companies and favorite local musicians are all found on the many excellent main stages and smaller more intimate venues in the area. Some of the more well know venues in St. Louis can be found in the Grand Center Arts District and include the Fox Theatre and the Powell Symphony Hall. The Sheldon Concert Hall is one of the smaller venues located in the Grand Center.
St. Louis has several arenas that provide the home fields for St. Louis' major sports teams, as well as providing larger venues for the wide variety of "shows" that come to town. St. Louis loves baseball and Busch Stadium is home to the MLB St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. It is an open air stadium, thus is seasonal in its use, but has hosted several large concerts. The Enterprise Center is where the NHL St. Louis Blues have their home field. The Enterprise Center also plays host to other event such as family events, ice shows, live concerts, basketball games and other sporting events. The Chaifetz Arena, located on the campus of St. Louis University, is the home to the SLU Bilikens men's and women's basketball teams and the SLU women's volleyball team. In addition to SLU sporting events, Chaifetz also hosts a variety of other events throughout the year in it's 10,600 seat arena. Such events include concerts, family specials, special interest conventions and trade shows and special speakers.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Area provides a fair amount of gaming establishments. In Downtown, the Lumiere Place Casino is found in the fun and historic Laclede's Landing with its one of a kind shops and restaurants. Conveniently located just across the Mississippi River by car or MetroLink using the Eads Bridge, is the Casino Queen. Hollywood Casino in located in Maryland Heights, in West St. Louis County. The Alton Belle Casino is found in Historic Alton Illinois, which would make a fun conclusion to a wonderful day-trip that consisted of visiting historic sites in Alton, a drive up the Scenic Great River Road, or a day of shopping in the antique stores found in downtown Alton. Ameristar Casino is found in St. Charles Missouri, close to Historic St. Charles which would make another fabulous day-trip with its historic sites and quaint one of a kind shops and restaurants along cobbled stone Main Street. The newest casino to come to the St. Louis area is the River City Casino located in South St. Louis County in Lemay Missouri.
The Muny in Forest Park, the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, the Family Arena in St. Charles, The Pageant in the University City "Loop" and the newly renovated historic Stifel Theatre in Downtown St. Louis are just a few more of the amazing venues that provide entertainment choices for residents and visitors of St. Louis.
