The City of Pevely, Missouri is located in Jefferson County, about 40 minutes south of Downtown St. Louis via Interstate 55. The important roads for the community of Pevely are Highway 61/67/Commercial Blvd, Highway Z, Interstate 55, Old State Road, Bushberg Road, Herky-Horine Road, and others. The City was officially incorporated in 1953.
Many recreation opportunities can be enjoyed in the City of Pevely. Pevely hosts some annual events such as the Homecoming Festival which is held every August and is a weekend of community fun with live entertainment, fireworks, contests like a pie-baking contest, crafts, carnival rides and games and more. Other events in Pevely include the Centennial Dinner and Dance Celebration, the Christmas Parade and others.
The I-55 Raceway, aka Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55, is located in Pevely and features Super Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman and Pro 4 Stocks racing on an oval high-banked dirt track. Races are on Saturday nights and the season runs March through September.
Pevely maintains five parks, Pevely Park, Ellis Bage Park, Joe Whaley Park, Stacey Reece Park and 26 acres of undeveloped land. The parks feature such amenities as playgrounds, athletic fields and courts and picnic shelters. The City of Pevely also has a special agreement with the Teamsters Health and Medical Camp for Pevely residents to used the amenities of the Camp for a yearly fee. Those amenities include a Waterpark, Lake Unity fishing lake and Union Hills Golf Course.
The community of Pevely is served by the Dunklin School District. This public school district has three schools, the Pevely Elementary School, located on County Road in Pevely, the Senn-Thomas Middle School and the Herculaneum High School, both located in Herculaneum.
