The City of Mascoutah, Illinois is located in St. Clair County, about 40 minutes east of Downtown St Louis via Interstate 64. Important roads for the community are Main Street, State Route 4, 6th Street, Harnett Street, County Road and others. The city was officially incorporated in 1883.
The residents of Mascoutah are served by the Mascoutah Community Unit School District #19. The district consists of Mascoutah High School, a middle school and two elementary schools, one of which is on Scott Air Force Base. The Catholic private school, Holy Childhood School, is also in Mascoutah and has grades Preschool through 8th.
Mascoutah maintains 3 city parks, Scheve Park, Maple Park and Prairie Park. The amenities of the parks offer the community a variety of outdoor activities. Those amenities include athletic fields for baseball and soccer, lighted tennis courts and a sand volleyball court, two swimming pools, playgrounds, two fishing lakes, many pavilions and picnic facilities and more.
Mid America Airport, a cargo facility with plans to become a passenger facility, is located within the city's borders.
