The Alton Marina is located on the Mississippi River in the shadow of the Clark Bridge and within walking distance from Historic Alton Illinois. It offers local boat owners seasonal rates as well as offering overnight rates for visitors. The Marina's amenity list is extensive. In addition to the many special events that are held throughout the season at the Alton Marina, they also provide year round shower and laundromat facilities, wireless internet, private luxury bathrooms, full floating docks and structures, swimming pool, sundeck and spas, convenience store, a deli and more. All utilities are included in the slip fee.

The Alton Marina is located in what is called the Alton Lake or the Alton Pool. The 36-mile stretch of the Mississippi River between the Melvin Price Locks and Dam and the Lock and Dam #25 near Winfield, Missouri, creates the "lake" or "pool" that can be as wide as a mile in places, especially where the Illinois River flows into the Mississippi River. This area on the river is perfect for boating and sailing!
