West St. Louis County has some unique historic places. One of them is the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog. The "Dog Museum" is not historic, but it is housed in the historic home of Edgar Monsanto Queeny, or the Jarville House, which was built in 1853 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Creve Coeur Lake is historic because it was the location of the 1904 Summer Olympics rowing competition. West County has an auto museum, the Kemp Auto Museum, an airplane museum, the Historic Aircraft Restoration Museum, and a "heritage museum", the Faust Park Historic Village.
Below is a list of historic places that can be visited in West St. Louis County. Enjoy spending a day visiting one or plot out an entire day of historic places to visit! Some are free, others charge an admission fee and still others are private and can only be viewed from the street or by the owner's permission (please be courteous!). Enjoy! We did!
