The Hamilton Heights Neighborhood is located in the northwestern section of the City of St. Louis. The boundaries of the neighborhood are the City limits to the west, Dr. Martin Luther King to the north, Union Blvd to the east and Page Blvd to the south. Surrounding neighborhoods are the West End Neighborhood to the south, the Academy Neighborhood to the east and the Wells Goodfellow Neighborhood to the north. St. Louis County and the community of Wellston is to the west of Hamilton Heights.
The Hamilton Heights Neighborhood is served by the St. Louis Public School District. The district has one elementary school located within the neighborhood, the Ford Elementary School, which provides educational services to Preschool classes through 6th grade. The Ford Elementary School was opened in 1964. Other school located nearby are the Langston Middle School and the Laclede Elementary School, both in the Wells Goodfellow Neighborhood. Soldan High School is located in the Academy Neighborhood and is an International Studies Magnet School featuring six foreign languages.
The Cabanne Branch Library, a branch of the St. Louis Public Library, is conveniently located close by on Union Blvd, in the Academy Neighborhood.
Several recreation options are available. Hamilton Park is in the neighborhood at the corner of Dr. Martin Luther King and Clara Avenue and features a playground and fields for softball and baseball. Several other parks are close by. Amherst Park, located at Hodiamont and Julian, is over 4 acres and has a playground, basketball and volleyball courts and a multi-purpose athletic field. The Barrett Brothers Park, in the Wells Goodfellow Neighborhood, is a larger park with 13 acres of parkland and provides several types of athletic fields such as baseball, softball and soccer fields, as well as a playground and a picnic pavilion. Gwen Giles Park is in the West End Neighborhood at Maple and Catalpa and has 5 acres of parkland with a basketball court, softball field and a playground.
