Monroe County Historic Places

Monroe County is home to the cities of Waterloo, Valmeyer, Columbia, Maeystown and Hecker. Waterloo has a historic district that includes the Peterstown House, the the last remaining stagecoach stop on the Kaskaskia-Cahokia Trail. Maeystown is a wonderful little city that was founded by German immigrants in 1852. It also has a historic district.
