Hermann, Missouri, located 90 minutes west of downtown St. Louis, was established in 1837 as a German Society Settlement. With over 150 historic buildings that are today on the National Register of Historic Places that include quaint Bed & Breakfasts, inns, museums, shops, restaurants and wineries, Hermann hosts many festivals throughout the year. The two main festivals are Oktoberfest and Maifest that are held annually in the historic town, but there is something happening almost every weekend. It is also a perfect Fall destination because of the scenic views of the Missouri River and the rolling countryside surrounding the city. Located in Missouri Wine Country and on the Missouri Wine Trail, several historic wineries are located in Hermann, Stone Hill Winery, Hermannhof Winery and OakGlenn Winery .
