Carlyle Lake is a paradise for fishing, all kinds of boating and especially sailing, camping, hunting, wildlife and bird observation and just plain fun! There are swimming beaches located around this 26,000 acre lake, the largest man-made lake in Illinois, and two Illinois State Parks, Eldon Hazlet State Park and South Shore State Park, as well as numerous other recreational areas. Carlyle Lake is located in Clinton County Illinois, near the City of Carlyle and is accessible from Interstate 70 to the north, Interstate 64 to the south and Interstate 57 to the east. It is about an hours drive from downtown St. Louis, Missouri.
