Purina Farms host over 60 dog events a year at its Canine Activity Center. One popular dog event is the Purina Dog Chow Incredible Dog Challenge. Other events such as herding competitions, with Purina Farms supplying the more than 100 Katahdin/Barbados Cross sheep for the events, and straight-track Whippet races are held at the Canine Competition Center.
The Visitor's Center at Purina Farms is a special attraction that kids of all ages enjoy. A full-size 2-story barn invites visitors to play in the hayloft, milk a cow, and swing on a rope swing as well as get up close and personal with sheep, horses, cows, hogs, rabbits, and chickens! The Pet Center features a 20-foot tall, multilevel cat house, a feline paradise complete with windows, stairways, rocking chairs and other furniture that cats love! Visitors get an eye-level view of the cats in action from a staircase that surrounds the cat house. Visitors will learn about caring for their pets by asking professional handlers their questions about pet care.
The hours of the Visitor's Center are Wednesday through Friday, 9:30am-3pm and Saturday and Sunday, 9:30am-4pm. Purina Farms Visitor's Center is open from mid-March to mid-November. Reservations are required. Food for purchase is available on site.
